Bible Note: Dear Searcher, You asked, "Why did you say what you did?" As I wrote in my post, the discussion reminded me of Spurgeon's comment. I guess I don't see the "need to understand" the connections between prophetic passages whose interpretation is predicated on seeming speculative presuppositions. The effort expended in the study of the didactic Scriptural material at our disposal, for example, will yield much that is pertinent to life and godliness. The value derived from a similar effort on apocalyptic passages, however, will yield far less substantive fruit. Such paltry returns certainly don't warrant all the pother that such discussions always generate on the forum. Just my way of defusing a discussion dominating the home page before it resulted in any further distraction or debate. In Him, Doc |
