Subject: does cremation affect resurrection |
Bible Note: Dear Mike, When it came to the resurrection, the Sadducees in our Lord's day didn't believe in it. The Lord's response to this was two fold -that they didn't know the scriptures or the power of God" (Matt 22v29). In one of the earliest writings of the Old Testament, Job declares with a faith which reaches beyond his natural sight. (Job 19v26) "Even after my skin is destroyed, Yet from my flesh I shall see God;" That is tremedous. Whatever way the body is destroyed the Scripture says - it shall be raised. The old hierarchy of the Middle Ages dug up the bones of the venerable John Wycliffe, they hated him so much that they then burned his bones to ashes and scattered them in the nearby river. That won't stop Wycliffe being raised from the tomb and receiving his reward. Praise God! Many of us have stood by the grave of a Christian loved one, praise God the day is coming when Death will be swallowed up in victory - "O Death where is your victory? O Death were is your sting?...but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15v54-57) Hope this helps, Andrew |
