Bible Question: 1 cor.14:34 Is Paul saying that women are not to be preachers of the word? Thanks, aloha Byron |
Bible Answer: That is correct. Women are forbidden to be pastors, which is in line from them being in authority over men or teaching men, in the context of the church. See also 1 Timothy 2:12, 1 Timothy 3:15. Many of the greatest blessings in my life have come through women, probably more than through pastors or other men. It's not about position, it's about submission. It's about loving others by putting their needs ahead of your own. This is true for both men and women. I am convinced that many of the greatest rewards in heaven will not go to those that had the most "successfull" ministries on earth, but to those who were most faithfull despite the lack of position, rank, wealth or other worldly honors or rewards. God is faithfull and will reward openly every good deed done in secret. Matt 19:30 "But many who are first will be last; and the last, first. Matt 6:5 ΒΆ "When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. Matt 6:6 "But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. Come quickly, Lord Jesus. |
