AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:37 ¶ If anyone thinks and claims that he is a prophet [a true spokesman for God] or spiritually astute [filled with and energized by the Holy Spirit], let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord's commandment. |
Bible Question: how do you view the office of the prophet in the new test church and how do see the role of women in the church |
Bible Answer: Hi, Devon... A prophet is someone who declares the Word of the Lord. As we have the complete, sufficient, inerrant, and authoritative word of God in the Scriptures, a prophet would be someone who teaches what it teaches, declares what it declares, and pronounces what it pronounces. If they do otherwise, then they are a false prophet. The primary role of women in the church is the same as the primary role of men in the church: to submit to the teaching of the pastor and the elders, to love one another, to encourage one another, to provoke one another to acts of love, etc. We do not find in Scripture that women are to take leadership roles. Various of the Pauline epistles (Ephesians and Titus, for example) give specific direction for the kinds of things in which women ought to be engaged. In Him, Doc |
