Bible Note: Ma'am, Welcome to the forum. It is not a matter of our preferences. It is a matter of the authority of Scripture. Examples in narrative never carry the same weight as explicit command of the Word. You say you want to be like Jeremiah. Even if such a thing were the design of God at this time in redemptive history, are you willing to have a life of affliction to accompany a message without a single convert? If you are going to be like Jeremiah, then the place to start, is by receiving every single word of Scripture as authoritatively from the Lord. When you adjust the Bible's message by your preferences, you reveal that that you have a great authority in your life than the Word. God ordained Jeremiah as a prophet (Jeremiah 1:5). Didn't this same Sovereign God create you and I? If we believe in the omniscient and omnipotent Providence of Scripture, are we to rail against Him for placing us in a less visible state than the prophet (Romans 9:20-21)? If we love something else more than the will of our God, it is evidence of idolatry. What would a Jeremiah say to that? In Him, Doc |
