Bible Question:
Are modern church services merely a tradition? Whether you're Catholic or Protestant and the services are conducted by a priest or a preacher, one thing seems the same. Most often, one person will deliver a message to the congregation, and that said without dispute. So what about, "let the others pass judgment?" Does anyone really do that? KJV 1 Corinthians 14:26 How is it then, rethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Act 17:11, 1 Cor 14, Jam 3:1 ... Aspilos, greetings. 1 Corinthians 14 is about having an orderly service. There was chaos then and even today. Part of this was two or three prophets speaking. There are churches that follow this, but usually only one prophets speaking, today. We better pay attention and weigh and discern what is said. The Bereans checked Paul out (1 Cor 17:11). If we have differences we must speak up. We could of misheard what they said or not be aware how they came to what they said. The speaker should be willing to explain themselves ... and correct what they said, if needed. I know of speakers who refuse to respond - they will be judged (Jam 3:1). Most of church services are tradition ... some even contrary to the Bible. Searcher |
