Bible Question: When speaking in tongues does someone else interpret or does the person speaking interpret? 1 cor. 14:27,28 |
Bible Answer: Greetings Paving27, Here is a bit of insightful commentary.. "14:27 in turn. Only two or three should speak in tongues in a service- never at the same time, but in turn, and not at all if no interpreter is present (v. 28)." (1) "14:27,28 These verses provide regulations for the exercise of the gift: 1) only two or three persons in a service; 2) only speaking in turn, one at a time; and 3) only with an interpreter. Without those conditions, one was to meditate and pray silently." (2) ".. (2) Tongues ... must be used with restraint, and only if an interpreter be present (vs. 1-19, 27, 28)."
