NASB | 1 Corinthians 14:26 ¶ What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:26 ¶ What then is the right course, believers? Subject: Order of Worship |
Bible Note: Greetings Aixen! On to the second question! :) First of all, thank you for the correction. I thought I might be using the wrong word, but I didn't have time to look it up! :-) Secondly, I should have said that the New Testament seems to avoid 'prescribing' a certain style of worship. The OT certainly does go into quite a bit of detail with the temple worship. One thing I can say for certain is that 'has' in the Greek text of 1 Cor. 14:26 is not imperative. It is a simply indicative verb. Thus, I would say that 1 Cor. 14:26 is descriptive, not prescriptive. So, I would certainly agree that there are principles in the NT concerning worship, but I just do not see any prescribed order. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
