NASB | 1 Corinthians 14:22 So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophecy is for a sign, not to unbelievers but to those who believe. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:22 Therefore, [unknown] tongues are [meant] for a [supernatural] sign, not to believers but to unbelievers [who might be receptive]; while prophecy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people] is not for unbelievers but for believers. |
Subject: who should speak in tounges? |
Bible Note: Satan is your answer, but let me explain. Assertions do not prove anything. Just because many people assert they speak in tongues does not mean they actually do. People do strange things, usually without reason, and that is why we have adages like, "Common sense is uncommon". That is also why Christ stated that few would find salvation. It is unfortunate, but most people do not follow reason, but emotion. The promise of tongues is one such example. Matt 7:13-14 13"Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. 14"For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it.
