Bible Question: what does it mean to pray in the spirit |
Bible Answer: Yo hunger and thirst, Your answer is stated in one verse, 1st Corinthians 14:14 "For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful." The larger context is chapters 12 -14, where Paul describes the gifts of the Spirit and their proper operation in the church service. These are to be in operation "...until that which is perfect is come", (Chapter 13, verse 10), that is, until our perfection is completed at the second coming of Christ when we will see him face to face and will know as we are known (verse 12).
