AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unproductive [because it does not understand what my spirit is praying]. |
Bible Question: A preacher suggested that I start praying in the spirit. I'm confused!!! I know that God is a spirit and I pray to him I thought in the spirit. Is this Gentleman referencing something else THAT I'M NOT AWARE OF? |
Bible Answer: 1 Corinthians 14:14-15 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. To pray in the spirit in this context is to pray in tongues. |
