Bible Question:
Hi all again, On the 16th of this month, I asked for an explaination of 2 Cor 1:3. I got some 50 responses but none that attempted to help me explain this verse. So I'll ask it again, word for word: I work with a Unitarian man and we talk Bible a couple of times every week. He believes the Unitarian creed, which holds the holy spirit to be just the influence of the Almighty God on the minds of his servants, dwelling in the hearts of believers, as the source of their spiritual life. He also showed me just yesterday 2 Cor 1:3, Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Here he says is proof that the trinity is not Bible based. I told him that he couldn't just pick out one scripture and make a whole doctrine out of it. But he said that there were many more bible verses that showed that Jesus has a God but Almighty God doesn't, and that proves Jesus isn't the Almighty God. He's very sharp when it comes to the Bible and I study it too, regularly. Being a Baptist, I try to prove him wrong about who God really is. He told me he would show me more verses that shows him that the trinity is not a bible teaching. He seems very sincere. So for now, any suggestions from anyone about this verse 2 Cor 1:3? Thanks |
Bible Answer: Part 3 of 3 Romans 8 11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. Romans 10 9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 1 Corinthians 6 14By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. John 10 17The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life--only to take it up again. 18No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father." Which part of God can we exclude from our Salvation, the Father who Saves, the Holy Spirit though whom we are Saved or the Son who is Salvation? Jesus introduces us to the Holy Trinity in the Gospel of John (14:16-17, 20-21, 23, 26; 15:26; 16:7-15) Finally, bear in mind that there is only One God, that that One God is a jealous God that will not allow others to share His Glory (Power/Honor), in light of this knowledge, how could anyone worship Jesus, even right in front of Him that sits in the Throne of Glory: Revelation 5 7He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9And they sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. 10You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth." 11Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" 13Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!" 14The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.
