Bible Question: Can someone show me in a sound theological and scriptural manner that the baptism of the holy spirit is subsequent to salvation |
Bible Answer: RevC: I don't believe anyone can show you in a sound theological and scriptural manner that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is subsequent to salvation. To answer your question, one must first define "baptism of the Holy Spirit." For a Biblical definition of the "baptism of the Holy Spirit", see 1 Cor 12:13, which tells us we were baptized (placed) into the one body (the body of Christ) by the Holy Spirit. When do we become a member of the body of Christ? At the moment of our salvation, when we are born again. There is no time gap between receiving salvation and being baptized into the one body, the body of Christ. Note that Acts 2:4 does not use the word "baptized." Instead it says "filled."Hope this helps answer the question. On the other hand it will be interesting to see if anyone argues in favor of a different view. --JVH0212 |
