Subject: Men having long hair a disgrace? |
Bible Note: We should remember that Paul does not make this an issue of disagreement, for he does not see it as a command from God but rather a thing of mens traditions. For he concludes the argument with these words. "But if any man be contentius, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God." This is Pauls final statement on this issue. But to be fully understood it should be studdied in the entire context. 1 Cor 11:1-16. Paul begins by speaking of how the spiritual works over the physical. Then he carries it into the natural and how God has used nature to give this as an example of the covering. But he concludes that having long hair is not a mandated thing, but a issue of cultural preferance. (if any man be contentious we have no such custom: Custom refers to cultural views) The important part of his discussion is the issue of Gods devine order. and of the role of spiritual covering in prayer. |
