Bible Question: We were about to take communion and the pastor said that if we have an issue with a brother or sister in Christ that needed to be addressed, we should do so or not take communion. Is this biblical? I though that communion was to be done in remembrance of what Jesus had done on the cross for us. I had to go after another sister in Christ as she left in tears feeling that she was unworthy to take communion because she is having difficulty with a fellow believer. |
Bible Answer: Good evening Tftennis, Yes, what your pastor said is biblical. Mat 5:23 So if you are offering your gift at the Temple altar and you remember there that your brother has something against you, Mat 5:24 leave your gift where it is by the altar, and go, make peace with your brother. Then come back and offer your gift. Mat 6:12 Forgive us what we have done wrong, as we too have forgiven those who have wronged us. Mat 6:15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Mat 18:35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart." Mar 11:26 [But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your trespasses.] 1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. 1Co 11:27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. 1Co 11:28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 1Co 11:29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. 1Co 11:30 That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. 1Co 11:31 But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged. |
