Bible Note: Your comment is very well spoken. I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you for summing it up as well as you did. Sometimes people take these things too literally. Just as some take them for granted. I believe that reasoning is a very important part of understanding the messages in the words of the Bible. Although God is the same as he was when these words were written the first time, I'm sure that he had the best interest of those of us who would be born generations later, in a more modern world, in mind. Some of these things that we question, like whether a woman should cover her hair to speak in church are things that we have to pray about and to find our own peace with. I believe the question that is to be asked is; Will women who don't cover their hair or who share the responsibility of teaching God's Word in church be damned from eternal life? If this is the case, what then happens to the man who allows is wife to share in the responsibility to work to support their family? We do live in times were it might be necessary for the woman to work full time or to get the Word of God to those who need to hear it. Really, do we need to be so concerned with "who" spreads the Word of God rather than that everyone has the opportunity to hear it and to live it? Or even what she wears on her head, if anything, while she offers her hand in the sharing of God's Word? |
