NASB | 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word--He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy]. |
Bible Question: I know that somewhere in the bible it says that God will not put any extra problems on me that I can not handle, all I have to do is ask for His help. A friend wants me to show him where it says that in the Bible. I can not find it. Can somebody help me with this? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Collette... Welcome to the forum! Actually, the bible never says that God will not put extra problems on us that we cannot handle. That is just superstitious twaddle. Indeed, if you think about it, we have the problem of sin upon us; we struggle with the world; we deal with our adversary the devil. We cannot handle any of these things. God said, "Can the Ethiopian change his skin Or the leopard his spots?" (Jeremiah 13:23a) This is very despairing, difficult, and discouraging! However, there is good news! Our Lord Jesus said, "With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26b) You see, although we are unable to help ourselves, God is able to rescue us. He has an eternal purpose (Ephesians 3:11), plans formed long ago and carried out in perfect faithfulness (Isaiah 25:1). In our weakness and inability, God grants grace (2 Corinthians 12:9). So tell your friend the good news! In Him, Doc |
