NASB | 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word--He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy]. |
Bible Question: Does God promise that we will never face suffering that we can't handle or just temptations? |
Bible Answer: God's day to you chop, and welcome to the SBF, I believe it is both. We need to turn to God whether we are being tempted or otherwise suffering. For temptation 1 Corinthians 10:13 is one of the verses (and most used) ... but read the context. For suffering 1 Peter 4:12-19 may be a good place to start. I like what John MacArthur, Jr. said ... it is our attitude ... we are not to be surprised when trouble comes ... rejoice in bad times (or good). ... evaluate it - how it fits in His plan ... trust Him http://www.eternallifeministries.org/jm_suf1.htm Searcher |
