Bible Question:
Solomon the wisest man? Greetings my fellow brothers and sisters In 1 Kings 3:12 God says to Soloman "I will give you a wise and dicerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be." So does that means that there is no one who will be wiser than Solomon? Cause one good counter-example is Jesus Christ. Since Jesus is fully God and fully man. I am not trying to point out any inaccuracy(ies) here as I believe the Word of God to be God breathed and God inspired. In Proverbs 30:5 "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. 6 Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar. " I would think that there will be someone wiser than how God annointed Solomon but I would need help finding scriptures to prove it. The way I see it is what 1 Kings 3:12 is saying is that assuming God made Solomon's IQ (or a standardized means of measuring wisdom) to be 200. Then no other man will be 200. They can be greater than or less than 200. Am I right to say this? I certainly do not want to add to His words. I am just curious not that knowing the answer would help in any way to my spiritual walk. Thanks for your time. :) |
Bible Answer: Shlomoh, greetings new forum user. I think your answer is contained in your question, because you do say, "Jesus was fully God and fully man." Solomon was only fully man, a created being, and Jesus is the Word, the eternal God. (John 1:1) No basis exists for comparison of the wisdom of Solomon with the wisdom of God; hence, no conflict exists relative to the scriptural claim that Solomon was the wisest man. --Hank |
