Bible Question (short): Is the Law opposed to Grace? |
Question (full): Is the Law which came through Moses opposed to Grace? In my current reading of Galatians it would appear on the surface that Paul taught that the law was in opposition to grace, and many believe that to be the case. But I believe that Paul used the greek word "nomos" because there was no term for legalism in the Greek. Jesus told his followers that if anyone who choose to break the laws of Moses he would be called the least. Therefore I don't believe that is what Pual was teaching. That would put him in opposition with Jesus. I believe a more careful reading of Galations and the Sermon on the Mount would prove that both Y'eshua and Paul were both opposed to legalism, and legalistic righteousness, but that the both were living under God's Grace in the beauty and majesty of the law. Let me know if you believe the Law and Grace are in opposition--and tell me why you believe they are ... or are not. |
