Subject: IS BAPTISM IS REQUIRED |
Bible Note: Hello lionheart, this is also in answer to your reply: After John the Baptist went to prison, then Jesus Christ began His earthly Ministry. Don't stumble on Jn 3:22-4:3 because that was before John was put in prison. After John was put in prison, then Jesus Christ told us all to "repent and believe", Mk 1:14-15. Believe what, exactly? What we must seek first and find first according to Mt 6:33; Ro 1:16-21? Then, during Jesus Christ's entire earthly Ministry, there were no physical water baptisms at all, none, zero, and no opportunity to do them for any of the disciples who were sent out two by two. Only in Ac 8 and Ac 10, we read of the believing Jews having a temporary problem with non-Jews that was not continued after they realized that non-Jews are saved just like believing Jews -- through repentance and faith that leads to obedience, Mk 1:14-15; Ac 11; Ac 15; etc. Paul always taught about the one baptism we must have, the one baptism that we must spiritually drink, 1Co 12:12-13; Eph 4:4-7. In Ro 1-8 and Col 1-4 he also described that one baptism as a spiritual circumcision. This is what it means to take up our cross and follow Jesus Christ. However: 1Co 1:17. For Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the Gospel, not in wisdom of words, lest the Cross of Christ should be made void. 18. For the Word of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness but unto us who are saved it is the Power of God. 19. For it is written, 'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought.' 20. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21. For seeing that in the Wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God; it was God's good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe. 22. Seeing that Jews ask for signs and Greeks seek after wisdom 23. but we preach Christ crucified -- unto Jews a stumblingblock and unto Gentiles foolishness 24. but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the Power of God and the Wisdom of God. 2Co 12:9. And He hath said unto me, "My Grace is sufficient for thee, for my Power is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, will I rather Glory in my weaknesses, that the Power of Christ may rest upon me. anne |
