NASB | Romans 6:18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 6:18 And having been set free from sin, you have become the slaves of righteousness [of conformity to God's will and purpose]. |
Bible Question: What does it mean to be free from sin? Does that mean we are no longer a slave to sin? If I can't stop sinning, does that mean I am not saved, or free, from sin? It seems to me that being free from sin can't mean we don't have to do it anymore, because if we didn't, then why do we do it? Does everyone that is free from sin stop sinning? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Rom 6:15-23, 7:15-23 ; 1Jo 1:8-10 ... God's day to you, BigChrisfilm, and welcome to the SBF, Yes, we are no longer a slave to sin, but righteousness. It is impossible to stop sinning, even after we are saved -- there is a continual stuggle. Read the passages I cited ... you may even want to read the first part of Romans 7, even more.
