NASB | Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 6:1 What shall we say [to all this]? Should we continue in sin and practice sin as a habit so that [God's gift of] grace may increase and overflow? |
Bible Question: When we are saying we are having Newness of Life. Is this the same as when we are saying we have been Regenerated? |
Bible Answer: I think it must be. The phrase is found in Romans 6 where Paul is explaining why we should not sin. He opens the chapter with "Should we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid!" (KJV) Then he tells us that baptism into Christ brings us newness of life. Such baptism is for a believer in Christ and no one else. Thus, one receives the miracle of the new birth, becoming regenerated, then is baptised. Baptism does not save, only Jesus does that. To say, biblically, that you have newness of life must mean that you have been baptised into Jesus. If you have not yet given yourself to Him I urge you to do so. |
