Bible Question: Does the word sin mean the same in the old testament as it does in the New Testament? |
Bible Answer: Grace Does Not Permit What The Law Prohibits Yes, sin is the same in the OT as it is in the NT. In the New Testament sin is defined as the transgression of the Law, which was given in the Old Testament. "Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness." 1 John 3:4 English Standard Version '...Grace does not permit what the law prohibits. "Grace" never signifies the lowering of God's moral demands.' -- John MacArthur* ____________________ * MacArthur. Excerpted from "Obedience: Love or Legalism? by John MacArthur".
