Bible Question: In Romans 4:20 what does it mean to be "strong in faith" |
Bible Answer: Romans 4:18-19 18 In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, "SO SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS BE." 19 Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb; Verse 18..God spoke the promise... Verse 19 Abraham believed God when in the natural there was no hope. Strong faith is faith that has been been developed (like a muscle) through faithful practice of acting on God's word while waiting patiently for the manifestation. James 1:2-4 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Romans 5:2-4 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: Abraham's faith was developed through a series of directions from God, beginning with His command for Abraham to leave his country because God had another country for him..both the promised land Cannan and the promised land, Jesus. Hebrews 11:8-10 8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
