NASB | Romans 3:20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 3:20 For no person will be justified [freed of guilt and declared righteous] in His sight by [trying to do] the works of the Law. For through the Law we become conscious of sin [and the recognition of sin directs us toward repentance, but provides no remedy for sin]. |
Bible Question: Romans 3:20 states "no one will be decalared righteous in His (God's) sight by observing the law, rather, through the law we become conscious of sin." Does that mean that without the law (i.e. 10 commandments) all of mankind would be unaware of his sin? beacuse I've noted christains often use the arguement,"how do you know the differnce between right and wrong", alluding to the fact that if we evolved no such thing would exist. i've always kind of understood it to be that the spirit convicts people....but then in romans it says that man wouldn't be aware of his sin if it weren't for the law. |
Bible Answer: See Romans 2:15, They have the Law of God written in their Hearts! All everywhere know what is wrong, to steal, to cheat, to take another's spouse! Thank you! |
