Bible Question:
According to the NIV study Bible...Perseverance in doing good" in this context actually means "perfection"...and Paul is making a point that that no one meets this standard Is this true |
Bible Answer: Hello Xenoid, The idea of perfection here is not flawlessness but being complete. Consider the parable of the sower: Luke 8:15 (ESV) As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. Perseverance and endurance are characteristics of the good soil (i.e. the true believer). They will strive on to perfection (completion). Steve |
