Bible Question: does sexual perversion include masturbation? |
Bible Answer: As far as I can tell, the Bible doesn't actually refer to "Auto-eroticism". However, when talking of sin, Jesus does mention that "From within, out of men's hearts... impure thoughts... etc". My take on this, and the opinion of others that I have discussed with, surely in order to masturbate, you have impure thoughts, lust and desire. It is on these grounds that masturbation is forwned upon. It is also a selfish act, and can lead to an unhealthy sexual life. Self control is the desired goal here. Then there is the physiology argument. Reading in a recent issue of "Mens' Health", I have seen that lack of regular ejaculation can lead to higher cases of testicular or prostate cancer. Does this mean we can masturbate on medical grounds? My closing statement is this; what does your conscience tell you? Romans tells us about that being the line between sin and righteousness. If you feel bad about it, then don't do it. Don't let guilt ruin your relationship with God. |
