Bible Question: I have 3 questions...I have often heard it said that God's "chosen" (?) ones are given more trials and burdens. Is there any scripture in the Bible that suggests this? Are "Faith Healers" in the same category as "mediums", or does God really give this gift to chosen people?I always believed that after Christ's death, his Spirit was lifted to Heaven. Recently I've read that His Spirit actually went to Hades first, then Heaven.I can't find reference to this in the Bible. Has anyone found it, or heard of this theory?Adnama |
Bible Answer: Hi adnama, 1. It would depend somewhat on how you defined "chosen"! (This tends to emanate from WOF heresy) Biblically, I don't see a distinction as those who are "Chosen" are believers. ( John 13:18, Rom. 16:13, 1 Peter 2:9) 2. I would not necessarily place "Faith Healers" in the same category as mediums, etc. However, I do believe there are no true "Faith Healers" operating today! (Benny Hinn is a charlatan and a fraud) God can and does heal as He is sovereign (Ps. 115:3). I would take a Cessasionist stance on this matter; 3. I see no scriptural support for the Spirit or Christ actually going to Hell (and then to heaven). Again, there is NO Biblical support for this teaching and it comes mostly from erroneous WOF dogma. The "theory" (and I say that rather loosly) is that Jesus atoned for our sins in hell. I hope this helps, BradK |
