Bible Question: what is the main theme of John 15:1-17? |
Bible Answer: The main theme of John 15:1-17 is reliance on the Spirit of God to perform the acts that He calls you to do. For instance, in Romans 14:23, we have the admonishment that "whatever is not from faith is sin." This is along the same lines citing that anything at all that we do, without first relying completely on the Spirit of God as our Counselor and our indwelling spiritual "Enabler" is sin. Thus, the main theme of John 15:1-17 is found in verse 5. Jesus is the vine or the root of all that is necessary to perform the tasks we are called to do. If we "abide" or make our habitation in the power of God, we will bear much fruit. The fruit being defined in Galatians 5:22-23. I hope that helps. Grace and peace! |
