Bible Question: Can anyone explain in details what the parable of mustard seed mean in Matthew Ch 13 verse 31 to 32? I have read a book stating that the kingdom of heaven could be viewed as the church today and as it grows adnormally big (it is no longer a mustard plant)and becomes a tree, birds in the air (i.e. Satan's agent) come and nest in it. I don't know if this is according to the bible. I have searched the topic on this forum but most of the discussions concern the latter part of Matt which talked about faith to move mountain in relation with mustard seed. Only one or two brief discussions bear the similar content relate to my question. |
Bible Answer: This is how i understand it. The kingdom of God is righteousness peace and joy in the Holy Spirit - something that you can experience *inside* you. It is sown inside you as a small seed when you are born again. If you abide in Jesus (as mentioned in John 15, 1 John 3:6, 1 John 3:24, etc) faithfully, this seed keeps on growing to a point where others around you and those who get in touch with you, are comforted themselves and get hope for their own lives - that it will happen for them too. The nuances of it are not very easily expressed. When you start on this way, you get to know it personally (not as mere head knowledge which does not profit us in our daty to day life) bit by bit - according to - John 7:17 - "If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine" So...you have a very bright future if you are godly and want to follow Jesus! |
