Bible Question: If this verse is put in Matt 6:33 to define the kingdom of God and The verse is rephrased the righteousness will be repeated, why is this so? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Bola... Welcome to the forum. Romans 14:17 is not a definition of the kingdom of God, but rather a statement of its constituents or characteristics. The apostle is saying that those who are saved are not characterized as such by dietary constraints. Instead, we are characterized by righteousness, peace, and joy. See Mat 6:33, Rom 14:19, Eph 4:3, Col 3:14-15). The idea being here that we should care less about what we eat, especially if it causes disunity, unhappiness, or others to sin. Better to forego the pork, wine, or idol-burger! In Him, Doc |
