NASB | Romans 14:14 I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 14:14 I know and am convinced [as one] in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean [ritually defiled, and unholy] in itself; but [nonetheless] it is unclean to anyone who thinks it is unclean. |
Bible Question: According to the this verse, nothing is essentially unclean. Why we have to say something 'clean' 'unclean'? |
Bible Answer: Hello cklamhk, Clean and unclean were concepts used by God primarily in the law of Moses. When something was unclean, you could not have contact with it otherwise you also would be unclean. Unclean people were prohibited from coming into the tabernacle (later temple) for worship. Specific laws were also given to purify from the uncleanness. Steve |
