NASB | Romans 12:3 ¶ For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 12:3 ¶ For by the grace [of God] given to me I say to everyone of you not to think more highly of himself [and of his importance and ability] than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has apportioned to each a degree of faith [and a purpose designed for service]. |
Bible Question:
Does anyone have an opinion on what God thinks about being competitive ? I used to play alot of competitive video games and it used to lead towards anger towards my oponent but i really enjoyed develloping my skill and becoming better and better, but not for good reasons. So my question really is. Is it possible for it to be "good" to compete against another person? |
Bible Answer: In my opinion I believe that competition can be seen as a good thing. As it makes us want to improve to become better at whatever it is we are doing. I think the problem comes when we become completely driven to be the best that we will happily trample over anyone to do that. We always need to remain humble in whatever we do, and when you compete against someone it may be difficult to do that becaue we naturally take pride in the fact that we have won. I think we just need to remember that whatever gift or skills we are given comes from God and that we shouldn't seek to try and beat over people. Romans 12:3. This seems kind of relevant. |
