NASB | Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]. |
Bible Question:
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." These are the words of Paul. Can someone tell me whether Jesus also said something akin to this? For example I recall a verse from the AV which reads " Be ye in the world but not of it." Yet I have put it into several search engines without finding it and there are no cross refferences from Romans to it in my Bible. Where does it come from? Rainbow Maker |
Bible Answer: John 17:14-16 (ESV) I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. [15] i do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. [16] They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. John 15:19 (ESV) If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. |
