Bible Question: im wondering if masterbation is a sin is it the act that is a sin or what im thinking about while doing is there scripture in regards to this |
Bible Answer: If you are thinking impure thoughts during the act, I hope that you would agree it is sin in light of Matthew 5:28. However I would have a difficult time drawing a case of "thus sayth the Lord" to call it a sin otherwise. My caution would be that it is seeking to walk the line between sin and rightousness, rather than fleeing sin and clinging to what is good. Sin is never satisfied and I can attest from experience that neither is masterbation. You will find yourself needing to do something different in order to derive the pleasure you seek (and initially received), which will eventually lead you into obvious sins like pornography or adultery. Finally: If your concious is causing you to question this I would remind you to read Romans 12:9 Abhor (hate with a passion) what is evil; cling to what is good... and 1 Corinthians 6:9-20 where we are reminded very clearly that we were created for God's Spirit to dwell in... do you have a clear conscious about using the body in which the Lord, dwells in for this purpose? I would guess the answer to be no... Find some accountability you can share with and continue to fight the good fight my brother, "resist the devil and he will FLEE from you !" James 4:7 |
