AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 11:29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable [for He does not withdraw what He has given, nor does He change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call]. |
Bible Question: In Romans 11:29, does this also mean that since God gave me a gift(s) and I sin or continue in sin he does not take the gift(s)back? |
Bible Answer: Dear VDavis, God can and does, by His providence, take gifts away from us that He has given us. Think about the gifts of life, wealth, health, reputation, etc. God can and will remove them when He sees fit. But look at the context of this verse. The gift that God never takes back -- what Paul is speaking about here -- is His gift of grace in salvation! There are other passages that deal with the problem of habitual sin. I'd commend you particularly to the first epistle of John. In Him, Doc |
