Bible Question: Because you get baptised and say your saved will u go to heaven |
Bible Answer: Elder, Lets look at a few verses of scipture to answer your question. John 17:3 says, "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." And, Romans 10:13 tells us "for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." It is also important to note that salvation is a free gift (Rom. 3:24), that is given by grace through faith: "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.(Eph. 2:8-9) "He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit," (Tit. 3:5) Baptism would not be a "requirement" for salvation but would be viewed as an initial step of obedience. We always want to make sure to distinguish between what saves us (grace through faith) and what we do by obedience (baptism). I hope this helps, BradK |
