Bible Question:
the question was for romans 1:24-27. is there any legitimate explanation to explain romans 1:24-27?what was the lie that was exchanged for what truth, and how was the created worshipped and served so that those that did it were given over to homosexuality? in other words does this scripture give us license to say to anyone who is homosexual, you are gay because you you exchanged the truth for a lie, and you worshipped and served the created? |
Bible Answer: Hello feet..., Here's how the Bible Knowledge Commentary answers vs 1:25- "1:25. In a sense this verse repeats the truth of verse 23, but it expresses more. The truth of God is not only the truth concerning God but also God’s truth concerning all things, including mankind. This truth is that people are creatures of God and can find true fulfillment only in worshiping and obediently serving God the Creator. A lie (lit., “the lie”) on the other hand says that the creature—angelic (Isa. 14:13-14; John 8:44) or human (Gen. 3:4-5)—can exist independent of God, self-sufficient, self-directing, and self-fulfilling. Mankind made himself his god in place of the true God." [John F. Walvoord, Roy B. Zuck and Dallas Theological Seminary, The Bible Knowledge Commentary] Wuest adds some insight through his rendering of this verse- "Translation: Who were of such a character that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and rendered religious service to the creation rather than to the Creator who is to be eulogized forever. Amen." [Kenneth S. Wuest, Wuest's Word Studies from the Greek New Testament] I trust that this will help in the understanding of this passage. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
