Bible Question: philippians verse 20 how can i live and have a eager expectation for christ to do anything and not be a ashamed of myself and to live boldly for christ |
Bible Answer: Hello GHelen, Not quite sure what your asking, but perhaps the following will be helpful. Paul is not talking about being "ashamed" of himself, as I understand it. In looking at the previous verses, Paul's focus is on the power of the gospel message. Perhaps the following verses in Romans will shed light on this. Rom 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel , for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith." ESV Paul understood this in a most sincere way to include having faith in the power of Christ's work and it's not being dependent on Paul's own life or death. Hope this helps, God bless, Jeff |
