Bible Question: Do we know whether any of the disciples of Jesus (the twelve) were ever baptized in any manner? Is it stated or implied anywhere in the New Testament? |
Bible Answer: It seems to be implied in a passage cited by jim. John 4:2 specifically says that Jesus did not personally baptize but that His disciples carried on this work. It is only reasonable to infer from 4:2 that the disciples must have been baptized, otherwise they would not be qualified to baptize others. For example, have you ever heard of an unbaptized person (under normal circumstances) going around and baptizing others? That would be like recruiting a guest of the drunk tank at the local jail to preside over an AA meeting. |
