Bible Question:
did the apostle paul murder christians? i've been taught for years that the apostle paul murdered christians, but now people are telling me that he never murdered anyone. did the apostle paul murder christians? |
Bible Answer: Hello vnct blzn, Strictly speaking, the apostle Paul did not murder Christians. However, prior to his conversion, Paul (Saul) certainly approved of - and was part to persecutons that took place. Read Acts 7, 8 and 9. In vs. 58 of Acts 7, we read "When they had driven him out of the city, they began stoning him (Stephen); and the witnesses laid aside their robes at the feet of a young man named Saul." (NASB) Acts 8:1 tells us, "Saul was in hearty agreement with putting him to death. And on that day a great persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles." (NASB) In Acts 8:3 we note, "But Saul began ravaging the church, entering house after house, and dragging off men and women, he would put them in prison." (NASB) I hope this helps, BradK |
