Bible Question: If a denomination teaches contrary to the Scriptures is that denomination of God or a tool of Satan? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Kosch... There is no perfect denomination or even non-denomination. Some denominations, like the Campbellite churches and SDA churches might even well be considered cults and precisely as you have described. So, you are right to point out that I was painting with too broad a brush. I was thinking of the mainline, orthodox Christian denominations like Lutheran, Dutch Reformed, and Presbyterian. Of course, personally, I'm quite comfortable with the Biblical correctness of the description of church government for historic Baptists in the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. There are a number of independent churches that follow quite similar patterns. Although from an unexpected source, thank you for encouraging my greater clarity. In Him, Doc |
