Bible Question:
Searcher Actually this is a theological question which is derived from Scripture itself. No denomination has been mentioned except by you. If you don't have a reasonable answer to my questions could you leave them for those who do. Once again my question is: I am having a difficult time with Acts 4:27-28 Acts 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, Acts 4:28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. In the above verses, I read where it was determined by God that Christ should die. So far I have no problem Where I am having a difficult time is trying to figure out whether it was determined by God which individuals would actually put Christ to death. The word determined is the Greek word (proorzio)which has also been translated to mean "predestinated" or "ordained" So if God predestinated or ordained that certain sinful men would carry out His plan, doesn't that seem to make God an accessory to evil, and the Author of it. I personally do not actually believe God is the Author of sin. But how can I explain this text without it making God appear to be an accessory to evil? Does any one have a reasonable answer? |
Bible Answer: Brother there is a reasonable answer. First what you may want to do is start in Genesis 3:15 this is the first Messianic prophecy and follow the thread through the Old Testament. Then check these verses Jb 31:4,21, Ps 147:5,He 4:13, and 1 Jn 3:20. They speak of the omniscience of God. (God is all knowing)I dont Know that God chose Herod or Pilate,But I do know this, that God had a plan for our salvation and that he knew how that plan would come into being. Any time we come across scripture that seems confusing or unclear it will be brought to light or clarified by other scripture in the bible. Check these things out and this will make alot more sense to you. In Christ, lionheart |
