Bible Question:
A Christian pastor once mentioned that the soul of a person can be destroyed. He even cited the bible reference. But I lost his letter. Could tell me where I can find that reference again? Thanks in advance. John |
Bible Answer: Hi John and welcome to the forum. With reference to your question the answer might be, Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. This is a reference to the fact that all will be resurrected and will receive an eternal body which will last forever. Those that trust and rely of what Jesus did for them on the cross will spend eternity with the Lord in their new bodies. Those that reject God’s gift of eternal life in Christ will also receive a resurrected body which can’t be destroyed but it will constantly be going through the process throughout eternity. Rev. 14:9-11 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Not a very glorious picture for those that aren’t under the protection of the Lord and His precious gift of life in Christ. Have you come to the place yet where you have received God’s precious gift, or is this something you are still seeking to receive? Have a great day, CDBJ |
