Bible Question: I have been out of the church and away from the bible for some time now. I went to visit a church yesterday to become active again and for ever. The pastor and I talked for a while and I repented. The pastor asked me about being babtized afterwards. Is it normal to do this so fast? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Acts 2:38-41, 8:12, 36-38, 10:47-49, 16:14-15, 32-33, 18:8, 19:3-5, 22:16 .. There are only three commands regarding baptism (Matt 28:19; Acts 2:38, 22:16). The passages I cited are the conversion experiences in the book of Acts. Notice how quickly one was baptized. Today that is not the norm. Most churches want one to take a baptism class. There are many churches that say you only should be baptized once ... maybe even most churches. But, since it is an outward sign of an inward change, I do not see a problem with it. There are a few churches that will say baptism is needed for salvation ... however, there is proof otherwise. Searcher |
