Bible Question: what were the implications of house churches on communal chriatian living in the early church? |
Bible Answer: There are those that suggest this based on this passage in Acts 2. However we have to remember the Jews had traveled to Jerusalem for Passover and intended to only stay until Pentecost. That is all they had provisioned for. Now they were staying longer and running out of food and money. So to help out in this exciting time period the Christian Jews that lived in and around Jerusalem shared what they had so all could experience this new "Experience" first hand. After the persecution started and Christians began to flee Jerusalem this practice came to a halt. So it wasn't established as a way of life but rather as means or measure to get the early church through the birth process. EdB |
