Bible Question (short): Did God reverse the polyglot curse?? |
Question (full): Mathew, in your answer to Portland's question concerning God's confounding of language during the time of the tower of Babel, you state that "this curse was reversed when God gave us the ability to speak languages and communicate in Acts 2." If this is true, why then am I, an English-speaking man, unable to understand a Japanese-speaking man nor he me, unless I study Japanese or he English? Isn't your statement rather sweeping? Isn't it inaccurate to hypothesize a general principle that God reversed the polyglot curse on the basis of the isolated event that occured on Pentecost in Acts 2? Is it not true that the empirical consequences of God's action on Pentecost do not support the hypothesis that He effected a general reversal of His action at Babel? --Hank |
