Bible Question: The "children of men" of Genesis 11:1-9 journeyed from the east to the plain of Shinar and built a city and a tower. Was there something about the tower per se that prompted God to say, "Nothing will be withheld from them, which they have imagined to do."? What was God's actual purpose in confounding the language? Bible Answer: Portland, I can only give my opinion with no biblical evidence on this one. Could be dangerous..lol I think that maybe God cast the Tower to the ground for the same reason he cast Satan out of heaven. Maybe God saw that in their hearts that they were making themselves to be God or equale with God. I think Gods purpose for confounding their language was because maybe He new if he didn't that thay would not soften their hearts. And then continue trying to build their tower. However this curse was reversed when God gave us the ability to speak languages and communicate in Acts:2 |
