Bible Note: Greetings Hank, Although I completely agree with your response and the verse used as it applies to the new birth, I was however refering to the experience the believers had as stated in Acts 2. of which is also the same experience as in Acts 19. Do we need this same experience as described in the book of Acts to be a faithful and, even more so, powerful witness for the gospel? Paul's question seems urgent. He doesn't ask: Hey fellas how your doctorine ? or, How many converts up to now Guys? To me it would seem that the importance of the Holy Ghost baptism with the evidence of tounges and prophesy was of the utmost importance and that they get it ASAP. This Baptism was given to both Jew and gentile and was emphasized much in Acts as well as other gospels. Are we missing something by not receiving this particular Baptism in the Holy Ghost? |
